Our direct income pays for:- a) The monthly mailings (about 850 every month to named individuals in, or connected with, the food sector across Greater London and the Home Counties). b) A part-time Administration Manager who works about 12 hours a week. The office is not fully manned which is why often you have to leave a message on the ansaphone. c) The computer, telephone, fax, stationery and postage costs d) The web site hosting and the domain name e) Hospitality for our guest speakers f) Membership of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry We receive free help from:- a) BFL Consultants who sponsor the office accommodation, try to keep the web site up to date, handle the Help Line and answer the E-mails. b) The Help Line is provided with free support from the following senior food sector professionals:-
In addition we obtain free support from our Membership in their areas of expertise which is greatly appreciated - we are a self help, networking club. Free support is also supplied by from Park Royal Partnership; Business Link for London; University of Reading Food Science Department; the London Food Centre at South Bank University; Professor Tim Lang from the City University Department of Health Management & Food Policy and Professor Basil Jarvis from Ross Biosciences Ltd. We receive sponsorship for meetings, mailings or equipment from:- 1) Business Link London - West Region 2) Harrow in Business for the use of their training room 3) UK Trade & Investment 4) Our members 5) Non members and potential members Grants Since April 2001 we have been fortunate to receive a grant from The Made in London Initiative. This grant is 'ring fenced' and is not used to support membership fees, the administration, the monthly mailings or the meetings. Instead it is used for initiatives that we would not otherwise be able to afford. This grant enables us to proactively expand rather than continue with our more reactive programme.
